The Fiți Buni Association
The Fiți Buni Association in Caracal brings gifts to children in hospital, takes children to the seaside, gives new winter boots, hearing aids and free hearing tests. Nicoleta Iagăru is its president.

“Smile! (Our) family loves you!”: Christmas gifts for children in hospital, for children from families in need and for the children of the Romanians around Vidin. The campaign sets out every year from the hospital church in Caracal and reached its tenth edition in 2023.

“I want to see the sea too!”: the free seaside camp for children from families without means who have never been to a camp or to the sea. In 2026 it reached its eleventh edition.
In 2025: 26 children who had never seen the sea.

“The mărțișor of hope”: the 1 March charity fair at Caracal Municipal Hospital. Year after year, the money raised on mărțișoare has bought equipment, furniture and antibacterial linoleum for the hospital’s wards.
In 2024: 10 televisions for 10 wards of Caracal Municipal Hospital.

“I was barefoot and you gave me shoes!”: new winter boots for children who have never had a new pair. Donors choose a child from a list of sizes and give them a new pair.
In 2025: New boots for 100 children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Father Ion’s church stands in the hospital courtyard. Donations have brought equipment, televisions, refrigerators, medical masks, libraries and, month after month, nappies for newborns.
In 2026: 8 libraries.

Houses renovated, rebuilt or bought for families living in homes about to collapse. The church or the association buys the materials, volunteers do the work, and the appeals go out on Facebook.
In 2021: A house bought for a family of five, in Sprâncenata.

The Easter and Christmas gifts taken to children and old people around Vidin, in Bulgaria, and to the Romanians of the Timok Valley, together with the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin.
In 2026: 160 parcels.

“Detect it in time! Your hearing deserves care!”: free hearing tests in the parishes of Olt’s villages, with modern equipment. Those who need it are offered evaluation, counselling and, where needed, hearing aids.
By September 2026: hundreds of people tested and evaluated; dozens received hearing aids.

“Let us dress a child for Easter!”: new clothes and shoes at Easter for children from families in need. A minibus full of children goes shopping, and each child chooses their own clothes.

“Cycling safely!”: a cycling camp for the children with hearing loss to whom the Fiți Buni Association had given hearing aids, with Audionova: four days around Ponoarele, in Mehedinți County, in July 2025.
