The Fiți Buni Association

The Fiți Buni Association (“Be Good”) in Caracal has helped families without means, children with disabilities, deserving pupils and the elderly for more than five years. Nicoleta Iagăru is its president; its projects are initiated by Father Ion Iagăru, parish priest of the wooden church of the Holy Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian in the courtyard of Caracal Municipal Hospital.

What the association does

• Christmas and Easter gifts for children in hospitals in Olt, Dolj and Teleorman counties — a campaign in its tenth year in 2023, with 700–800 parcels. At Easter 2026: the hospitals of Caracal, Roșiori de Vede, Băilești and Corabia.
• Wet wipes and nappies, every month, for the newborns of five hospitals.
• Hearing aids for dozens of children with hearing loss, with Audionova — and, in 2025, a camp just for them, “Pedalăm în siguranță” (Cycling safely).
• A free camp, “Vreau și eu la mare!” (I want to see the sea too!), for children from families without means in Olt and Dolj; since 2023 also for Romanian children from the Timok Valley in Bulgaria. In 2026, its eleventh edition.
• “Desculț am fost și m-ați încălțat!” (I was barefoot and you gave me shoes): new boots for children from poor families, a campaign begun in 2019.
• Refrigerators for 30 wards of Caracal Municipal Hospital (2025).
• Gift cards for Caracal’s elderly on the International Day of Older Persons (2022, with Lidl).
• Water filters for dozens of village families; blood drives and charity runs that bought school backpacks for children.

The association also supports the Romanian communities around Vidin and in the Timok Valley, in Bulgaria.
